Steven W. Brown, Attorney and Counsellor at Law, is the President of Brown Puckett Vogel, LLC. He has been practicing law for 35+ years, with a primary emphasis on estate planning and business succession planning. He loves the challenge of helping people solve complex problems.
Steve is well known amongst his clients as “a lawyer that can communicate complex legal concepts into stories that we can understand”. “My biggest gift to my clients is the ability to provide them with a peace of mind so that they can enjoy their lives without worry, knowing that their planning is complete and up to date.”
You can find Steve when he is not meeting the challenges of a very busy law practice, spending time with his wife Martha, their two dogs, three children and three grandchildren. He is an avid pheasant hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He also likes to enjoy good Kansas City barbeque.

Steven W. Brown graduated from University of Kansas with a B.S. in Accounting/Business Administration with distinction in 1976. He took his law degree from University of Kansas in 1979. He is a Graduate of Master’s Program in Wealth Strategies Planning through the Esperti Peterson Institute, as accredited by the Estate and Wealth Strategies Institute at Michigan State University. He is a member of the Wealth Counsel, a national organization of Attorneys, Financial Professionals, and CPA’s, who are committed to a client-centric approach to estate planning. He is also a Chartered member of LifeSpan Legal Services™, which integrates estate planning, ongoing education and a life-long commitment to the members and their families.

Nick Puckett is a partner attorney and counsellor at law at Brown Puckett Vogel, LLC. Nick is continuing the firm’s focus on estate planning, asset protection planning,and business succession planning. Nick has also expanded the firm’s practice areas to include Medicaid planning, Veterans benefits planning, and other long-term care & elder law planning needs. He is currently licensed in Kansas & Missouri.
Nick is a veteran and former officer of the United States Army. He most recently served as a company commander of a combat engineer unit in the Kansas Army National Guard until his retirement in January 2017. He served one tour in Iraq and has also deployed in support of U.S. Border Patrol operations along the Southern U.S. border. He most recently assisted in training Armenian Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers through a strategic partnership between the Armenian Army and the Kansas Army National Guard.
Nick and his wife Emily have been married for 15 years and have two boys Nolan (13) and Dylan (11). His family enjoys sports, hunting with their Llewellin setter “Twix”, and cheering for their favorite sports teams the Florida State Seminoles (football), and the University of Kansas Jayhawks (basketball).
Nick’s legal experience includes research clerk for the Kansas Senate Judiciary Committee, legal clerk for the Honorable Robert W. Fairchild, Chief Judge of the 7th Judicial District in Kansas, and training through the ElderCounsel Elder Law Immersion program. He is a member of WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel, Saline County Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, and Missouri Bar Association.
Christopher A. Vogel, Attorney and Counsellor at Law, with Brown Puckett Vogel, LLC. He has been practicing law for 25 years, with a primary emphasis on estate planning and trust settlements. His main focus with the firm is the handling of the trust settlements and the drafting of all of the trusts, wills, and amendments, as well as, preparing all life insurance trusts.
He is also the President of The Accounting Company, which assists many local businesses with their taxes and payroll, as well as, assists with clients’ estate tax returns and trust settlement accounting.
When not in the office, you will most likely find Chris on the golf course.

Keri Eilert has been with Brown Puckett Vogel, LLC since 2007 and is responsible for managing all of our clients’ information. She is Attorney Steve Brown’s assistant and handles his busy calendar scheduling of all of the firm’s client meetings.
Keri enjoys playing softball, doing crafts and spending time with her family. She is wife to Chad and has three daughters, Ashlynd, Paedyn and Zoee.
Natalie Shafer joined Brown Puckett Vogel, LLC in 2014. She assists in the preparation of Trusts, Wills, and Amendments during our annual Client Update Program. She works with clients on their restatements, ancillaries, and preparation of their asset protection planning to assure that their planning goals are met. She also works with corporate clients, as well as employee benefits.
Natalie also fills the important role of funding coordinator where she is responsible for creating the funding documents and verifications for trusts, trust settlements, and entities for all of our clients.
Natalie has a daughter, Chloe, who attends elementary school. On the weekends, they like to ride their bikes or play board games. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and reading.
Emily Puckett joined the Brown Puckett Vogel, LLC team in 2015. She is responsible for maintaining the office organization and ensuring that the office operates smoothly!
When she isn’t at work you can find Emily enjoying her family, which means working her second full-time job of being the mother to two active boys.
